Estepona · Costa del Sol

Golf holidays
in Estepona.

A charming seaside town with quieter fairways, excellent value and some of the best courses in Spain on its doorstep, including Finca Cortesín.

Estepona has quietly become one of the favourite bases on the Costa del Sol for golfers who know the coast well. The town keeps its Andalusian character, with flower-filled streets, colourful murals and a long promenade, while some of the region's most rewarding courses lie just a few minutes away.

Compared with Marbella, the pace is slower and the value is often better, both at the hotels and on the tee. It is ideal for golfers who want to play a lot, eat well and relax, and for longer stays of a week or more.

Golf courses in and around Estepona

Estepona sits between Marbella and Sotogrande, so you can easily play in both directions. Close to town you'll find:

  • Finca Cortesín in Casares: host of the Volvo World Match Play and the 2023 Solheim Cup, and consistently ranked among the best courses in Spain.
  • Atalaya Golf & Country Club: two courses, including the mature Old Course designed by Bernhard von Limburger in 1968.
  • El Paraíso: a friendly Gary Player design, flat and walkable, great for the first day of a trip.
  • Estepona Golf, Valle Romano and Los Flamingos at Villa Padierna, all within 15 minutes.
  • To the west, Doña Julia, La Duquesa (Robert Trent Jones Sr.) and the Sotogrande courses, including Valderrama.

Where to stay in Estepona

Most of our guests in Estepona choose between a beachfront hotel on the long stretch of coast between Estepona and San Pedro, a golf resort where the first tee is a short walk away, or a boutique hotel close to the old town and the port. Each suits a different kind of group, and we'll recommend the right one for yours.

Off the course

Estepona's old town is one of the prettiest on the coast, with whitewashed streets decorated with flower pots and murals. The marina has a relaxed choice of restaurants and bars, and the beaches are wide and uncrowded outside high summer. Marbella and Puerto Banús are around 25 minutes away for an evening out, and Gibraltar is close enough for a half-day visit.
