Between Benalmádena and Mijas lies one of the busiest golf areas in Europe. In just a few kilometres you can play over twenty courses, from resort layouts in the hills to friendly local favourites, and you are never far from the airport, the beach or a good restaurant.
This is the area we recommend most often to golf societies and groups of friends: transfers are short, there is a huge choice of courses and hotels at every level, and the evenings in Fuengirola or Benalmádena are lively without being expensive.
Golf courses in Mijas & Benalmádena
- La Cala Resort: three 18-hole championship courses (Campo América, Campo Asia and Campo Europa) in the hills behind Mijas Costa, with its own hotel.
- Mijas Golf: two Robert Trent Jones Sr. courses, Los Lagos and Los Olivos, in a quiet valley below Mijas Pueblo.
- Torrequebrada in Benalmádena: a hilly Pepe Gancedo design with sea views from almost every hole.
- Santana Golf, Calanova, El Chaparral and Miraflores, all around Mijas Costa.
- Inland, Lauro Golf (27 holes) and Alhaurín Golf, both quieter and very good value.

Groups often stay in Benalmádena Costa or Fuengirola, close to the marina, the promenade and plenty of restaurants. Golfers who prefer peace and quiet choose a golf resort hotel such as La Cala, where you can walk to the first tee. For couples, the white village of Mijas Pueblo is a charming place to stay or have dinner.
Off the course
Mijas Pueblo, perched on the mountainside, is one of the most beautiful white villages on the coast. Puerto Marina in Benalmádena and the promenade at Fuengirola have bars and restaurants for every taste, and Málaga city is 20–30 minutes away.
